quick ideas about grace. What goods does grace provide? How is grace received and how is it lost?

EspañolEspañol

1. What is grace?

Grace refers to any favor or free help that God gives us. Sanctifying grace is also called grace (as we use the term here).

2. What is sanctifying grace?

It is the gift of the Holy Spirit that sanctifies us, divinizes us, makes us children of God. Receiving grace at the same time brings these great goods:
  • the forgiveness of sins and birth into supernatural life.
  • the indwelling of the Holy Spirit in the soul.
  • divine filiation and participation in the divine nature.
  • the opening of the gates of heaven.

3. Is there a great difference between being in grace and not?

The difference is enormous. On one side, separation from God and the path toward hell. On the other side, divine friendship and filiation, divinization, and the opening of heaven.

4. What are the main means of acquiring graces?

The main means of acquiring graces are prayer and the sacraments. Some sacraments provide sanctifying grace. Most of them increase this grace and grant other divine helps.

5. How is grace received and how is it lost?

It is received for the first time in Baptism. It is lost by committing a mortal sin. It is recovered through Confession.
