1. How great is the dignity of a Christian?

A Christian is a disciple of Christ—one who follows in the footsteps of the Master and desires to imitate His holy life. Through sanctifying grace, the Christian is intimately united with and configured to Christ, who dwells and acts within him. A Christian is someone who strives to live as a beloved child of God.

2. What should the life of a Christian look like?

Like every human being, a Christian is called to direct his life according to the loving design of the Creator—being diligent in work, pious in prayer, and apostolic in witness, as explained in the article on man. In addition, the Christian bears special responsibilities of generous love toward God and neighbor.

3. What are examples of a Christian's special duties?

A Christian must strive to know Christ's teachings deeply, dedicating time to ongoing doctrinal and spiritual formation. He should receive the sacraments frequently and give generous time to God in daily prayer. For instance, authentic Christian piety includes regular attendance at Holy Mass and the devout recitation of the Holy Rosary, flowing from living faith in the Eucharist and filial love for the Mother of God.

4. Is it easier to live as an ordinary man than as a Christian?

A Christian certainly carries higher moral and spiritual responsibilities, and fulfilling them faithfully requires generous self-sacrifice. But we also receive incomparably greater divine assistance through grace; consequently, the Christian leads a life that is both far nobler and interiorly easier. Life becomes burdensome only when one abandons the sacraments, personal prayer, and intimacy with God.
