God

There are three main ways: observing creation, learning what He has revealed about Himself, and praying.

Observing creatures, we can draw several conclusions about the Creator:

• God is very wise and powerful, since He created such a splendid universe (big bang; evolution).
• The Creator has the highest degree of the perfections we see in creatures, without any mixture of defects or limitations. For example, God is good and just, and not mortal.
• God is spiritual, since material beings can be damaged.
• God is eternal: the Creator must have existed forever, because if not, who created Him?

Studying the teachings of Jesus Christ is a good and accurate way to know God. In this way we learn, among other things:

• God rewards the good (Heaven) and punishes the wicked (hell).
• In God there are three Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
• God loves us greatly: the Son of God became man and died on the Cross to save us.

Prayer is a simple and deep way to know the Lord. It brings us into divine friendship and intimacy. There we understand His plans and desires, what He likes and dislikes in our own behavior and in human behavior in general. In prayer we also ask God for help, and this divine assistance is a very effective way to approach Him.

Strive to live a holy life. This desire to fulfill God's will strengthens and increases love for the Lord, and love discovers a thousand things about the beloved. Furthermore, God manifests Himself more closely to those who love Him.
