Your life needs a north, not an image

A polished image organizes what others see. A north organizes decisions when no one is watching. If your priority is to sustain an attractive version of yourself, you will end up choosing what protects the appearance, even if it pulls you away from the good you claim to seek. Having a north means remembering what you want to live for: loving God and people, serving with your gifts, building a family, or answering a specific vocation. That purpose does not automatically resolve every decision, but it helps distinguish means from ends. Mature identity does not ask only 'how will I look?' but 'who does this step turn me into?' Sometimes it will demand rectifying publicly or giving up a brilliant opportunity. Losing an image may be precisely the way to recover your direction.
