You can also leave without leaving home

The older brother does not leave home; he works and does his duty. Yet he has been far away on the inside for a long time: he does not know his father's heart, lets his brother leave, and turns living together into mere bookkeeping. There are distances that do not require moving away. They appear when you eat dinner staring at your phone, answer only what is strictly necessary, or reduce the relationship to chores and logistics. You remain present, but you no longer share life. Coming back can also be necessary for the one who never left. Asking how the other is, sharing something of yourself, and ceasing to treat home as a service station opens up brotherhood once again.
