Why believe when there are scandals?

Mark as read

The sin of some does not erase the truth of Christ.

Scandals cause real pain and must be taken with complete seriousness, through justice, reparation, and conversion. They must not be covered up or disguised with pious phrases. Yet Christian faith does not rest on the sinlessness of Christians, but on Christ. Precisely because sin exists, we need grace, truth, and a Church that returns time and again to her Lord. This question requires calm, not a quick slogan. Many doubts are understood much better when you separate things: what faith says, what reason can see, what comes from personal experience, and what perhaps arises from a wound or prejudice.

Key idea

Scandals call for purification, not for abandoning the truth of Christ.

Your challenge for this idea

If a bad example weighs heavily on you, bring it to God and look also at a concrete saint.
