Value of commitment

Mark as read

Loving without deciding is stopping halfway.

An ambiguous relationship may seem comfortable because it avoids difficult decisions. But over time it usually wears you down: there are expectations, intimacy, and plans, while no one dares to ask where all of that is really heading. Commitment does not trap love. It gives it a horizon and lets you verify whether you both want to build a shared life. In dating, that direction points toward marriage: knowing each other truthfully, growing in freedom, and discerning if you can form a family. Committing is not rushing either. It means stopping living solely on emotions and beginning to speak seriously about values, faith, children, work, sacrifices, and a life project. Loving well demands tenderness, but also decisions that can sustain the future.
