Take off the mask

The image you strive to maintain is not always the life that you need.

We all have some mask: appearing strong, funny, confident, busy, spiritual, or indifferent. They serve to protect, but they can also leave you alone behind the persona. Silence helps because it neither applauds nor corrects your image. It leaves you in front of what is there: desires, wounds, fears, gifts, and need of God. Taking off the mask does not mean telling everything to everyone. It means stopping lying to yourself and allowing God to look at you as you are.

Key idea

Inner truth begins when you stop living merely to appear.
