Some say nothing and hold everything up
The Gospel doesn't record a single sentence of Saint Joseph's. Only what he did.
We don't know a single word of Joseph's. The Gospels tell what he did: he took Mary in, brought his family to Bethlehem and then to Egypt, went back to Nazareth and worked for years in his workshop. Several times he got up in the night to do what God was asking of him. Jesus learned a trade from him and a way of living.
Almost every home, company and group has someone like that. They aren't the one who talks most or appears in the photos, but without them everything would fall apart: the one who opens up, who fixes things, who remembers, who is there.
Joseph's life reminds us that holiness doesn't need speeches. It is built with faithfulness in what each day brings, even if nobody comments on it.
Key idea
Quiet everyday faithfulness holds up more than it seems.
Your challenge for this idea
Today, thank someone who holds something up without anyone noticing.
