Mary loved you before you sought her

Mark as read

Your relationship with Mary does not start with how well you can love her.

A child learns to love his mother because he has first been cared for by her. The article applies that experience to Mary: her maternal love goes ahead of your prayers, your memories, and even your desire to draw close. This changes the starting point. You do not have to manufacture perfect affection or prove you are a good child to speak to her. Even a cooled relationship can restart from something received: she has not forgotten about you. The response will grow little by little. First you can let yourself be loved, tell her what is happening, and ask her to teach you to relate to Jesus with more confidence.

Key idea

Mary's maternal love precedes and sustains your response.

Your challenge for this idea

In your own words, tell Mary today something you would normally keep to yourself.
