Man and woman: equal and distinct
Equal in dignity does not mean identical or interchangeable.
Today two distinct things are mixed up: the equal dignity of man and woman, which is true and must be defended, and the idea that to be equal one must deny every difference. It is not the same thing.
Being a man or being a woman is not an interchangeable packaging: it marks the entire way of being a person, in the body and on the inside. And that difference is not a problem to correct, but something good, willed by God, that makes possible a relationship in which each one contributes and receives.
Recognizing difference does not lower anyone. On the contrary: valuing what is distinctive to each is richer than pretending it does not matter.
Key idea
Man and woman have equal dignity and a good, valuable difference.
Your challenge for this idea
Value something distinctive in someone of the other sex today, instead of assuming it is identical or taking it for granted.
