Love disarms

True strength does not always make noise.

Violence seems strong because it imposes itself quickly. Mockery, verbal blows, pressure, or revenge give a feeling of power, but they leave wounds and more fear. The love of Christ shows another strength: self-giving, forgiveness, truth, patience, and the ability to carry the good even when it costs. To love is not to let everything be indifferent. It is to respond without becoming that which one wants to defeat. That strength can disarm more than many apparent victories.

Key idea

Christian love is a force capable of breaking the logic of violence.
