Having your own path does not mean inventing everything

Wanting to live your own path is healthy. The problem arises when you interpret every rule, tradition, or advice as a threat to authenticity. Then you can end up conforming to your surroundings out of sheer fear of resembling anyone else. A common vocation and shared principles allow for personal ways of being lived out. You can learn from those who walked before you, receive a map, and heed warnings without becoming a copy. The choice remains yours. Personality is not proven by always being contrary. It shows in the ability to make a truth your own, give it your own inflection, and respond with responsibility. Freedom does not need to invent its destination to travel it in an unrepeatable way.
