Having seen breakups doesn't doom you to repeat them
If you've seen your parents or your friends break up, "forever" may sound like a fairy tale. It isn't.
When you've seen your parents, a relative or friends who seemed strong split up, "forever" can sound naive. Without meaning to, their story turns into a prediction: if they couldn't, you won't be able to either.
That experience deserves to be looked at calmly, because it leaves a mark: fears, learned ways of arguing, questions with no easy answer. But it doesn't write in advance what you are going to decide.
You can ask for help, learn what you saw was missing and commit yourself knowing better what's at stake. Nobody guarantees you a life without difficulties. Hope isn't believing you're invincible, but knowing that love can be learned and that your story is still to be written.
Key idea
The breakups you've seen may influence you, but they don't decide your ability to love faithfully.
Your challenge for this idea
Think of a breakup close to you and write down one specific thing you want to do differently in your relationships.
