God is known by spending time with him
It is not enough to speak about God: you must speak with him.
You can know something of God by looking at creation and studying faith. But prayer opens a different knowledge: personal contact with the one who listens, corrects, and keeps you standing.
No one knows a friend simply by reading data about him. Something similar happens with God, though in a deeper way. Faith grows when thought rises and converses.
This is better understood by looking at Christ and the life of the Church. It is not an isolated idea, but part of a path: God draws near, offers his help, and calls you to respond with freedom, humility, and constancy.
Key idea
Prayer turns knowledge of God into a living relationship.
Your challenge for this idea
Spend five minutes speaking with God in your own words.
