Forever needs to go through crises

Every lasting promise encounters versions of life that it could not possibly foresee: weariness, losses, differences, and projects that need to be reviewed. A crisis does not automatically prove that love has come to an end. It can reveal unjust habits or deep wounds that demand honest conversation, wise counsel, and, in grave situations, protection. Remaining never means tolerating violence or relinquishing the truth. It means not declaring the bond useless at the very first difficult transformation. That "forever" becomes real through many situated yeses: listening today, asking for forgiveness, accepting help, or rebuilding shared intimacy. Fidelity does not preserve an untouched photograph; it accompanies living persons. Going through a crisis well can grant love a depth that the initial excitement did not yet know.
