Family is loving without medals

Family doesn't work like a shop window where each person is worth their results. In a healthy family the person is loved for who they are, even when defects need correcting and limits need setting. That steady love gives solid ground to grow on. It doesn't consist in allowing everything, but in seeking the other's good without turning every failure into being shut out of affection.
