Faith is received, not appropriated
The sacred ceases to be a gift when you try to turn it into a possession.
Some accounts relate that a person stole a Host because they wanted to keep it close or adore it in their own way. The intention might have seemed devout, but the gesture treated the Eucharist as something one takes and keeps on one's own. Christian faith is received within a communion, with a kind of care that you do not invent by yourself. Loving Christ does not make you owner of the sacraments, nor does it allow you to separate devotion from the Church.
There are goods that only remain pure when welcomed as a gift. Receiving with gratitude, respecting, and allowing yourself to be taught is deeper than possessing or controlling.
