Do not threaten to walk away

In marriage and in serious commitments, loyalty protects the bond. Threatening to break things off whenever tension arises wears down trust and turns love into unsafe ground. Arguing can be necessary; destroying the foundation is not. Fidelity is cared for especially when there is fatigue, wounded pride, or the urge to win the fight. In relationships, details carry much more weight than it seems. A tone of voice, an omission, an apology, or a gesture of service can build up or wear down a great deal. That is why this idea must be brought into concrete daily treatment, not left as a good intention.
