A devotion is not a to-do list
You can pray many formulas and still fail to relate to the person receiving them.
The Rosary, the Angelus, pilgrimages, sacred images, and short aspirations are all ways of expressing love for Mary. But a repeated practice can easily become a checked box if you no longer remember that a personal relationship lies behind it.
The solution is not to abandon devotions, but to restore their direction.
A Hail Mary can be a greeting, an image can prompt a conversation, and a pilgrimage can become time shared with a Mother.
Quantity does not guarantee genuine closeness. At times, a single prayer recited with true presence is worth more for your relationship than many words uttered while your mind is completely elsewhere.
Key idea
Devotions make sense when they nurture a real relationship with Mary and with Jesus.
Your challenge for this idea
Choose a devotion you already practice today and pray it more slowly, knowing whom you are addressing.
