Conversion also means building what comes after

The ancient account of St. Mary of Egypt speaks of a radical change after years of disordered living. That moment did not stay as a mere intense emotion: she made concrete decisions and sustained a completely new path over many years. Your conversion may not ask you to leave for the desert, but it does ask you to build what comes after. If you recognize an addiction, a harmful relationship, or an unjust way of acting, repentance needs measures that protect the chosen direction: distance from certain triggers, reparation, help, and different habits. This does not reduce grace to a technique. It gives it room to take root in your freedom and your daily life. You can fall and begin again, but you do not have to return to the exact same setting without changing anything. A true turn becomes a path when it organizes the next step.
