The Church is not a club
Christ did not simply leave an idea: he left behind a guided people.
The Church does not spring from mere human affinity or shared tastes. Christ willed a visible community, with Peter and his successors, to safeguard the faith and guide us toward salvation.
This does not eliminate the human weaknesses of its members. But it recalls something decisive: Christian faith is not inventing a private path, but receiving and living what Christ handed over.
At times faith remains trapped in feeling, mere habit, or intellectual debate. This idea helps return to what is essential: God acts, grace is real, and Christian life is sustained by concrete means, not merely good intentions.
Key idea
The Church guards a received faith, not a collective opinion.
