A. Religion
1. What is religion?
Religion can be understood in several ways:
- As a virtue, religion is the habit of giving worship to God. It is the part of justice concerned with fulfilling our obligations toward God. It includes the duties of adoration, gratitude, prayer, and offering sacrifices — the holy Mass.
- As a science, religion deals with knowledge about God and our relationship and obligations toward him. It includes the study of divine manifestations, the truths we know, the gifts God gives us, and the response due from us. Religion as a science is usually called theology, the science of God.
2. Is religion studied or practiced?
Both. Religion is a theoretical and practical science. It contains truths that can be studied and consequences that are applied in life.
3. How is religion learned?
Like any other science, the simplest way is to have someone nearby to advise and guide. But it can also be learned individually, at least in theory. Below we present a basic religion course. (Catholic religion with ecclesiastical authorization.)
