Your holiness is measured by love

We measure the value of our life by what we produce, by what we know, by what we endure. Faith uses another yardstick: how much you love. Charity is what gives value to everything else; without it, said St. Paul, 'I am nothing,' even if I do great things. That reorders priorities. A small gesture done with love is worth more than an enormous achievement done out of vanity. And it explains why simple people, without a brilliant CV, leave a deep mark: they loved greatly. It is not a nice phrase: it is a criterion for living. Before what you do today, the real question is not 'how much do I produce?' but 'with how much love do I do it?'.
