Your doubts don't bother God

Mark as read

Thomas asked for proof, and Jesus came back to give it to him.

Thomas wasn't there when Jesus appeared to the others. When they told him, he said he wouldn't believe unless he put his finger into his wounds. Eight days later, Jesus came back and went straight to him: "Put your finger here, and see my hands" (Jn 20:24-29). He didn't reproach him for his distrust or give him a sermon. He offered him what he needed. But he did invite him to take the step: "Do not be faithless, but believing." Thomas answered with the most emphatic confession of faith in the Gospel: "My Lord and my God!" Your questions about the faith don't scandalize God. You can bring them to him as they are, without hiding them. What doesn't help is settling down to live in suspicion without looking for an answer.

Key idea

God doesn't despise your questions: he invites you to bring them to him.

Your challenge for this idea

Today, tell God in your own words about a doubt you have, and ask him for light to take a step.
