Your conscience is not a nuisance

Your conscience is not there to annoy you, but to help you recognize the good and the evil in your actions. Sometimes it is uncomfortable because it shines a light on exactly what you would prefer not to see. Forming it well requires truth, humility, and good counsel. A dormant conscience does not usually bring peace; it only postpones the moment of facing squarely what you are doing with your life. To keep this from remaining theory, it helps to bring it down to a concrete decision: a pending conversation, a small renunciation, a priority that needs ordering, or a more Christian way of looking at what is happening.
