Your body is not a toy
Taking care of yourself is not vanity; it is responsibility.
The body is part of the person. That is why it is not good to treat it as an object of caprice, a showcase, or a tool for any pleasure. What you do with your body also does something to you inside.
Caring for it with rest, cleanliness, sobriety, and respect is a basic form of justice toward yourself and toward God, who created you whole: soul and body.
It helps not to go to extremes. Neither living squeezed and joyless, nor calling freedom the habit of always doing whatever you feel like. Virtue goes another way: ordering desires so they help you live better, not so they rule over everything.
Key idea
The body deserves care because it is part of your personal dignity.
Your challenge for this idea
Make a concrete choice of bodily care today: sleep, eat, move, or avoid an excess.
