Your body is not a costume

The idea has spread that the body is a kind of blank material, which each person shapes according to what they feel they are at any given moment. As if you were only your will, and the body a suit you put on. Faith looks at the human being differently: you are body and spirit in a single piece, not two things glued together. Your body is not foreign to you nor a hindrance: it too shares in your dignity and says something true about who you are. This is not closing your eyes to the suffering of those who do not recognize themselves in their body, which is real and deserves closeness. It is remembering that freedom grows when it starts from the truth of what we are, not when it ignores it.
