You get used to everything you achieve
You get what you wanted... and within weeks it already feels like too little.
It happens almost every time: you eagerly desire something, you obtain it, and the joy lasts less than you expected. Soon you want the next thing. It is not that you are wrong to enjoy it; it is simply that the thrill of getting something, by its very nature, wears off.
Before you know it, you enter a loop: buying, achieving, upgrading, repeating, each time with less effect. You chase the next thing believing that one will satisfy, and soon enough that empty feeling returns. Recognizing that treadmill is the first step to stop running behind it.
It is not about ceasing to desire or to enjoy, but about not hanging from each achievement a happiness it cannot sustain. Lower your demands on things: enjoy them for what they are and stop asking them to satisfy you completely.
Key idea
The joy of acquiring wears off: do not hang all your happiness on it.
Your challenge for this idea
Think of something you desire deeply right now. Ask yourself honestly how long you think the joy of having it will last.
