You don't come to that table just casually
You don't go to the most important meal like passing through a checkout.
You don't arrive at the most important meal like someone ordering coffee on the go. Communion is receiving Christ himself, and that deserves a minimum of preparation, not inertia or your head somewhere else.
Preparing is not about getting anxious or never feeling "worthy." It is arriving in grace—confessing if needed—with a little silence and a real desire to receive him. The more open you go, the more fruit the same gift yields.
These are not scruples or barriers: it is affection. You don't receive someone you love just any way; you make room for them. With Christ in the Eucharist, it is the same.
Key idea
Receiving communion well requires arriving in grace and with a prepared heart, not out of routine.
Your challenge for this idea
Before your next communion, take a minute to prepare: silence and remembering Whom you are going to receive.
