You can make a home without owning a house
Some people make any place feel like home because they know how to receive whoever arrives.
Creating a home does not depend solely on walls, family ties, or decoration. It begins when someone can be with you without feeling constantly evaluated, when you remember their name, make room, and pay attention to what perhaps no one else has seen.
That capacity can be lived in an office, a residence hall, a classroom, or a group of friends. It does not replace boundaries or turn every relationship into intimacy. It offers something simpler: a presence in which the other person ceases to feel like a stranger.
Every person has needed to be welcomed in order to grow. That is why anyone can also become a place of welcome. Asking, introducing someone who is alone, explaining a custom to a newcomer, or preparing a corner with care are concrete ways of saying: 'you are not in the way here'.
