Would you make room?

In the Christmas account there is a painful detail: there was no room for them, and Jesus was born in a stable. It is easy to feel indignant at the people of Bethlehem... until you ask whether there is room for God in your own life, or if everything is already occupied. Because that room is not a bedroom: it is time, attention, a corner of the heart. Often it is filled with hurry, screens, and anxiety. It is not that nothing remains; it is that we have reserved nothing for him. Making room for him does not require grand things. A moment of silence, a short prayer, a different kind of Sunday. Christmas gently asks whether this time you will let him in.
