The world is not yours, you steward it
What you have in your hands is a loan, not booty.
We treat the world, and often our own things, as absolute owners: use, spend, throw away. Faith proposes another posture: you are a steward, not the ultimate owner. The earth and its resources have been entrusted to you so you can care for them, not lay waste to them.
That goes for the big and the small: water, things, money, what you share with others. A good steward uses what is entrusted to them thinking also of others and of those who come after.
It is not carrying the weight of the planet all by yourself. It is trading "this is mine and I do what I want" for "this has been entrusted to me, am I taking good care of it?"
