Why then is there evil?

If God creates what is good, the question of evil weighs even more. Christian faith does not say that God is the author of evil. Evil appears tied to the disordered use of freedom and the mystery of a wounded creation. God does not want evil, but he can draw good even from what we break. That God can draw good does not make the harm small or remove responsibility. The Christian response invites us to combat preventable evil and trust when part of the mystery remains.
