Why is there something rather than nothing?

The beginning of the universe opens an enormous question: why is there something rather than nothing? Physics can study stages, expansion and initial conditions, but the question of the foundation remains. Faith looks at creation as a gift. It doesn't fill gaps in our ignorance; it recognizes that the very being of things points to a Creator.
