Why make reparation if God forgives?

When God forgives, the guilt is forgiven. But sin leaves disorder, wounds, and consequences that it is good to repair with love, good works, and offered sacrifices. Reparation is not made because God is resentful. It is made because love wants to restore what was damaged. Asking for forgiveness opens the door; making reparation helps put the inner house back in order. The key is not to use doubt as an excuse to remain idle. A question well lived can bring you closer to God if asked with humility, if it seeks truth, and if it is willing to change something when it finds light.
