Why does God create?

God did not need the world in order to be more God. He does not create out of lack, obligation, or loneliness. Creation is born of his free love. To exist is not a cold accident: it is having been willed and loved. That changes how you look at life. Creation does not answer a need in God. It is born of his gratuitous love. Recognizing this allows you to view your own life as a gift received and not as a meaningless accident.
