When you're waiting for someone to remember you
You check your phone to see if anyone has written, while the person next to you may need you.
There are days when you feel alone and check your phone again and again: nobody writes, nobody asks, nobody remembers. It hurts to feel forgotten, and it's very human to need to be taken into account.
But sometimes that waiting shuts us in. We're so focused on whether anyone has remembered us that we don't see the person beside us, who may feel the same. And the loneliness grows.
A simple way out is to turn it around: be the one who remembers. Write to someone, ask how they are, go up to the person near you. It doesn't change everything at once, but it breaks the circle. And in those moments when nobody writes, remember that God doesn't forget you.
Key idea
Sometimes the best way out of loneliness is to be the one who remembers someone else.
Your challenge for this idea
Today, write to someone who hasn't heard from you in a while, just to ask how they are.
