Faith

What purpose does Tradition serve?

Mark as read

To preserve and transmit a living faith.

Faith is not transmitted solely as written information. It is also transmitted in prayer, the liturgy, the lives of the saints, teaching, and the living experience of the Church. Tradition is not empty custom. It is the living memory of what the Church has received and guards so that it is neither lost nor distorted. That is why Christian faith does not start from scratch in each generation. Receiving a living inheritance allows us to know Christ better and transmit that same faith in words understandable to each era.

Key idea

Faith is transmitted alive.

Your challenge for this idea
