The value of punctuality

Punctuality is not an obsession of rigid people. It is a simple way of recognizing that someone else's time matters as much as yours. Arriving late systematically forces others to pay the price of your disorder. It also educates something deeper: the ability to govern yourself. To be on time requires planning ahead, finishing a task, giving up five minutes of comfort, and keeping a small promise. That is where character is formed, in decisions hardly anyone applauds. In ordinary Christian life, these details can become service. Arriving on time for work, an appointment, or prayer means caring for people and offering God a very concrete fidelity.
