Truth does not require you to humiliate
Being right does not turn any tone into a valid way to help.
You can defend something true and do so in a way that shuts every single door. Irony, harsh finality, and the pleasure of leaving the other person without an answer reveal that you are no longer serving truth alone; you are also feeding the desire to come out on top.
Speaking with charity does not lower the content or call good what causes harm. It minds the timing, distinguishes the person from their error, and seeks words that can genuinely be received. Truth aims to illuminate, not to exhibit the one who does not yet see it.
You also need humility to accept that your own formulation may be incomplete. An honest conversation allows you to learn and adjust. If the other person walks away crushed, you may have won an argument, but you lost the opportunity to draw closer to the truth together.
Key idea

Your challenge for this idea
Review a pending correction and remove from it any phrase that only serves to demonstrate superiority over the other person.
