Truth deserves to reorder your life

Mark as read

Truly seeking truth involves accepting that the discovery may change you.

Niels Steensen was a brilliant scientist and one of the founding fathers of several modern disciplines. His search did not end with accumulating knowledge: when he recognized a truth that asked him to change, he allowed himself to be moved by it. Sometimes we say that we want answers, but we only accept those that do not alter our plans. In this way, seeking turns into an elegant way of remaining right where we already were. Truth remains subjected to our own convenience. Being honest also means granting what is discovered the right to correct you. You do not have to change on every whim, but neither can you call it seeking if you ask questions without being willing to listen.

Key idea

Seeking the truth requires letting a true answer bring about real consequences.

Your challenge for this idea

Identify a truth you already recognize but have not yet turned into a concrete personal decision.
