Trust is earned in small things

Trusting someone does not come from a pretty speech, but from many small signs: keeping your word, not telling private matters, arriving when you said, and not changing face depending on the room. Explicit and implicit loyalty keeps relationships standing firm. When it is lacking, even good gestures begin to seem suspicious. Loving well means treating the other person as a person, not as someone you use to be comfortable, receive approval, or vent what is inside you. Affection is needed, yes, but also prudence: knowing when to speak, when to stay silent, when to correct, and when to accompany.
