Train what you feel like doing
You are not condemned to always desire the worst.
It is hard to live your whole life against the current, always doing what you do not feel like and holding back what you do. If every day is an uphill fight, exhaustion or surrender eventually arrives.
That is why there is something better than merely resisting: re-educating what your body craves. By repeating what is good, what attracts you gradually changes. What costs you the world today comes almost naturally tomorrow. That is what virtue is called: when the good also begins to appeal to you.
It does not happen all at once, nor is it perfect: you will still have off days. But every small repetition moves your desires to a better place. It is not just about holding out, but ending up wanting what truly suits you best.
Key idea
With good habits, even your desires begin to work in your favor.
Your challenge for this idea
Choose a good action you feel lazy about today and do it anyway. You are training what you will desire tomorrow.
