Those who suffered a lack of love can learn to welcome
An emotional lack explains certain defences, but it does not condemn you to repeat them forever.
If you grew up with emotional coldness, you might find it hard to express affection, to trust, or to receive others' needs without feeling them as an imposition. What others do spontaneously may require conscious learning on your part.
It does not help to deny the wound or turn it into a definitive identity. You can observe healthy models, seek guidance, practice concrete gestures, and accept that they may turn out clumsy at first. Tenderness is also educated.
Over time, a lack can sharpen your attention towards those who feel invisible. Not because the harm was necessary or good, but because your freedom and grace can prevent it from closing the story. You do not have to offer exactly what you received. You can begin a different emotional heritage, without doing it alone or all at once.
Key idea
Emotional lacks have an impact, but they can be worked through in order to begin a new and freer way of receiving and loving.
Your challenge for this idea
Practice a gesture of affection this week that you did not learn at home, and ask for guidance if the wound makes it very hard to sustain.
