There is a pride that is good for you
There's a security that doesn't depend on your grades, your looks or what others think of you.
Many people walk with their heads down because they feel they don't amount to much: they don't get the best grades, they don't think they're good-looking, they don't have the job they hoped for. And sometimes they mistake that for humility.
Faith doesn't ask you to sink so you can be humble. It tells you who you are: a child of God, someone loved, with a dignity no one can take away from you. When a student discovered he was proud of being one, Josemaria Escriva encouraged him to cultivate that "pride."
It's not about thinking you're better than anyone or making up virtues. It's about knowing that your worth doesn't depend on what you achieve or on what people think of you. That really is a reason to hold your head up.
