There are unwritten laws
Not everything that is just depends on someone passing it in a parliament.
Natural law reminds us that there are goods and evils inscribed in what we are. A human law can recognize them or ignore them, but it does not invent dignity or justice from scratch.
This is uncomfortable when a society wants to decide everything by vote or by power. But it also protects the weak: no one loses dignity simply because a majority stops seeing it.
The key is not to use doubt as an excuse to remain still. A question lived well can bring you closer to God if it is asked with humility, if it seeks truth, and if it is ready to change something when it finds light.
