The next episode starts on its own
If you don't decide when to stop, the screen decides for you.
An episode ends and, before you have time to think, the next one has already started. A countdown of a few seconds, and another hour goes by. Streaming platforms are designed this way: so that continuing is easy and stopping takes effort.
There's nothing wrong with watching series; it can be good rest. The problem comes when you finish at two in the morning something you only meant to watch for a while, and the next day you pay for it with sleepiness and a bad mood.
It helps to decide before you start: how many episodes and until what time. And, when the moment comes, to turn it off without negotiating. Enjoying something also includes knowing how to leave it.
Key idea
Deciding ahead of time how much you'll watch gives you back control of your rest.
Your challenge for this idea
The next time you watch a series, decide beforehand how many episodes you'll watch and stick to it.
