The first thing you look at in the morning
If it's your phone, the day starts by answering what others want.
The alarm goes off and, with your eyes barely open, you're already reading messages, news and notifications. Before you get up, your head is full of what others expect of you.
The first few minutes set the tone of the day. That's why many Christians have the habit of giving them to God: a sign of the cross, a "good morning, Lord," an "I offer you this day." It fits in the time it takes to put your feet on the floor.
Offering the day isn't promising that everything will go well. It's saying from the start who you're living it for. Then come work, rushing and the unexpected, but they no longer start from zero.
Key idea
Offering the day to God before looking at your phone changes the tone of everything else.
