Faith

Staying when you feel nothing

Mark as read

Faith grows right there as well.

There are days when praying seems dry: no ideas come to mind, your attention wanders, and your heart does not respond. That can discourage you, especially if you confuse prayer with feeling consolation. Yet a friendship is not measured only by easy moments. Remaining before God when you do not notice anything purifies love: you begin to seek him for who he is, not merely for the peace you hope to receive. It is not about forcing emotions or faking enthusiasm. It is about returning with simplicity, leaning on a short reading, looking at the tabernacle if you can, and offering even your distraction. That silent fidelity is also prayer and can greatly expand your heart.

Key idea

Faithfulness is worth far more than feelings.

Your challenge for this idea

Stay in prayer for a few minutes today, even if you do not feel anything special.
